The DOJ Reports on Ferguson
The Department of Justice released two reports on the tragedy in Ferguson.
The first report, dated March 5, 2015, focused on the Michael Brown shooting, found that the evidence in the Michael Brown shooting suggested that the shooting was justified, and that the narrative that had developed around the shooting was likely untrue. HERE is a copy of the report.
The second report, dated March 4, 2015, focused on the actions of the Ferguson Police Department. HERE is a copy of the report.
Then Attorney General Eric Holder held a press conference to announce the release of the reports. HERE is a link to a video of the press conference, on the Politico website. Attorney General Holder noted "...the facts do not support the filing of criminal charges against Officer Darren Wilson". He then went on to talk extensively about what he described as a "searing report" on the practices of the Ferguson Police Department and Municipal Court. Holder noted that the police and municipal courts were used "...as a way to generate revenue". "Policing and municipal court practices were found to be disproportionately harmful to African American residents". He noted the report suggested "racial bias, both implicit and explicit" and "unlawful practices and Constitutional violations".
